Accessibility
Our design incorporates accessibility features to support all disability types, thus accommodating the widest range of users possible. A breakdown of specific features by disability type is listed below.
Cognitive Disabilities:
- Simple language
- By excluding intermediate and advanced terms, such as balance and pending, we lowered the reading level required to use the product
- Minimal text used to convey information
- Redundancy of information and access
- Allows consumers with memory disabilities to use the product
- Account balances are always displayed
- Simple layout and intuitive organization yields strong scent
- Common actions are listed in optional question format
- Simple graphics supplement verbal information and language
- Supplemental animations
- Show that actions are happening
- Provide feedback for action selection
Low Vision / Blindness:
- Screen reader compatible
- Consumers using a screen reader can skip over tables of information they feel is irrelevant at the time
- Utilized frontloading
- Auditory cues
- Indicate that actions are happening
- Provide feedback for action selection
- Avoided use of red/green combinations
- Good contrast for consumers with low vision
- Adjustable font size
- Buttons are discernable by enlarged text
Physical Disabilities:
- Only one motion is required for all actions
- No multiple keypresses
- No double-clicks
- Compatible with simple-tech assistive devices
- Large target size for selection of choices
- Compatible with various electronic AT (ex: StickyKeys)
- Error recovery for accidental activation (ex: Back button)
- User speech or biological contact is not required
Hard of Hearing / Deaf:
- All auditory information is supplementary
- Supports audio amplification devices since it is used on personal electronic devices
- Supplemental animations
- Show that actions are happening
- Provide feedback for action selection
- Video Relay Service for those more comfortable with sign language and interpreters
